BDGA Individual Girls Division of Friday Interclub

The Buffalo District Golf Association operates the BDGA Individual Girl’s Division of Friday Interclub League, an individual girl’s league at 31 Western New York area golf courses and private golf clubs.  Junior Girl players must be affiliated with or belong to a golf club or golf course that participates in the BDGA Friday Interclub League.  Participating Friday Interclub League golf clubs and golf courses are divided into 4 divisions, O’Connor Division, Hubbard Division, Leonard Division and McMahon Division.  These divisions are based primarily on geographic location.

The Individual Girls Division league is an individual competition with players representing a participating BDGA Friday Interclub League golf club or course.  There are two (2) levels at which girls can compete.  These levels are based on their score ability and not age, however all players must be under the age of 19 by September 1, of the current year.  A player wishing to compete in the 9-hole level must be able to score 75 or better on their home course and 120 or better to compete in the 18-hole level.  Each club or course is eligible to send 4 girls in any combination of level of player to compete.  Each player will accrue individual points based on score. 

Girls that participate as a team player in the BDGA Friday Interclub League will have their score count for both divisions (team and individual).  For team play they must follow the age requirement for sub junior and junior level of play.

The BDGA Individual Girls Division of Friday Interclub League holds a Championship each year that is comprised of the best four (4) 18-hole and/or four (4) 9-hole players from each of the five (5) divisions.

Each participating golf club or golf course sets their individual requirements and criteria for representing their club as an individual player.  These requirements and criteria may include but are not limited to weekly qualifying rounds, residency restrictions and registration in their junior golf program.

SCORING FOR GIRLS INDIVIDUAL DIVISION

Medalist:          20 points

2^nd place:          16 points

3^rd place:          12 points

4^th place:          10 points

5^th place:          8 points

all other players:            6 points

Girls that participate as a team player will have their score count for both divisions (team and individual).  For team play they must follow the age requirement for sub junior and junior level of play.

BDGA EVENT PLAYING STANDARDS AND CODE OF BEHAVIOR

• Events are open to all youth officially residing full time in the BDGA area.

• Players must be capable of carrying their own bag, completing 18 holes in 4 hours and scoring 120 or below or completing 9 holes in 2 hours and scoring 75 or below.

• Proper golf attire will be worn at all times by players.  Boys to include collared shirt (tucked in), spike-less footwear and long pants or pocketed proper length shorts.  Caps, if worn, must be peak-forward.  Girls to include proper Bermuda length shorts, capris, skorts and pants, no short shorts or tennis shorts.  Shirts or blouses must cover your midriff during a full swing.  No belly shirts, tank tops or camisoles.  NO DENIM, NO TEE SHIRTS.

• Proper demeanor is expected of every player.  Any display of improper language, club throwing, temper tantrums, disrespect of fellow players, or any other unsportsmanlike conduct will be grounds for immediate dismissal and possible suspension from future BDGA events.

• Cheating and/or violation of the rules of golf will be dealt with quickly and severely, not only for those in violation but also for any and all who knew or should have known of such violations but neglected to report them.

• Spectators, if allowed on the course by the host club, shall be silent and remain approximately 30 yards from the players during competition.  A one stroke penalty or immediate disqualification may be assessed to a player who allows such spectator involvement.

• Proper care of the golf course shall be observed including divot replacement, bunker raking, ball mark fixing, keeping the golf bag off the green and disposal of all litter in containers.
