BDGA Friday Interclub League

The Buffalo District Golf Association operates the Friday Interclub League, a junior golf program, at 31 Western New York area golf courses and private golf clubs.  Junior golf participants must be affiliated with or belong to a golf club or golf course that participates in the BDGA Friday Interclub League.  Participating Friday Interclub League golf clubs and golf courses are divided into 4 divisions, O’Connor Division, Hubbard Division, Leonard Division and McMahon Division.  These divisions are based primarily on geographic location.

Each participating golf club or golf course sets their individual requirements and criteria for fielding their team.  These requirements and criteria may include but are not limited to weekly qualifying rounds, residency restrictions and registration in their junior golf program.

The BDGA Friday Interclub League is a team competition with two (2) levels of players.  Each team is eligible to send 4 Juniors, (players of any gender under the age of 19 by September 1 of the current year) and 4 Sub-Juniors, (players of any gender under the age of 15 by September 1 of the current year).  The team score is comprised of the lowest 3 scores for each level.  A team must field a team of at least 3 players in order to receive team points.  Each player is eligible to accrue individual points for BDGA Friday Interclub League play.  Individual points are given to the top 20 players and additional points are awarded to the medalist in each level.

The BDGA Friday Interclub League holds a Championship each year that is comprised of the best Junior and Sub-Junior team from each of the four (4) divisions as well as the overall medalist from each level.

SCORING FOR FRIDAY INTERCLUB

A Sub Junior must be under the age of 15 and a Junior must be under the age of 19 by September 1, of the current year. Each participating club must field a minimum of 3 players for the sub junior and junior divisions to count a team score.

Scoring:          Total of the best 3 of 4 players individual scores.

                        TIES will split the total points for places tied.

Team Points:              1^st place:           8 points

                                    2^nd place:          7 points

                                    3^rd place:          6 points

                                    4^th place:          5 points

                                    5^th place:          4 points

                                    6^th place:          3 points

                                    7^th place:          2 points

                                    8^th place:          1 point

                                    no team:           0 points

BDGA Team/Individual Points:  All dates will be eligible to count for the best 5 team and individual scores.  Best 5 to be determined by the BDGA.

Individual Points:       The top 20 players in each division will accrue the following individual BDGA points.

Medalist: will receive an additional 10 points.  Ties for Medalist will not be broken each player will receive the additional 10 points.  TIES will split the total points for places tied.

BDGA EVENT PLAYING STANDARDS AND CODE OF BEHAVIOR

• Events are open to all youth officially residing full time in the BDGA area.

• Players must be capable of carrying their own bag, completing 18 holes in 4 hours and scoring 120 or below or completing 9 holes in 2 hours and scoring 75 or below.

• Proper golf attire will be worn at all times by players.  Boys to include collared shirt (tucked in), spike-less footwear and long pants or pocketed proper length shorts.  Caps, if worn, must be peak-forward.  Girls to include proper Bermuda length shorts, capris, skorts and pants, no short shorts or tennis shorts.  Shirts or blouses must cover your midriff during a full swing.  No belly shirts, tank tops or camisoles.  NO DENIM, NO TEE SHIRTS.

• Proper demeanor is expected of every player.  Any display of improper language, club throwing, temper tantrums, disrespect of fellow players, or any other unsportsmanlike conduct will be grounds for immediate dismissal and possible suspension from future BDGA events.

• Cheating and/or violation of the rules of golf will be dealt with quickly and severely, not only for those in violation but also for any and all who knew or should have known of such violations but neglected to report them.

• Spectators, if allowed on the course by the host club, shall be silent and remain approximately 30 yards from the players during competition.  A one stroke penalty or immediate disqualification may be assessed to a player who allows such spectator involvement.

• Proper care of the golf course shall be observed including divot replacement, bunker raking, ball mark fixing, keeping the golf bag off the green and disposal of all litter in containers.
